Privacy Policy

Gig ("the app", "we") is built so that we — the developer — never receive your data. We operate no servers and run no backend.

What we collect

Nothing. Gig's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected" across every category. Your income, expenses, receipts, mileage, and tax figures are stored only on your device.

Where your data lives

• All records are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData, protected by NSFileProtectionComplete (encrypted at rest while the device is locked).
• Receipt photos stay on your device. They are processed on-device with Apple's Vision framework for text recognition and are never uploaded.
• Optional iCloud sync (a future Plus feature) uses your own private Apple iCloud account end-to-end; we have no access to it.

What we do NOT do

• We do not connect to your bank. There is no Plaid, Yodlee, or any aggregator.
• We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
• We do not use the AppTrackingTransparency framework or the IDFA.
• We do not send your tax data to the IRS or any state agency. Gig does not file taxes.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data — because we never receive it.

Permissions

Gig requests Camera (to photograph receipts), Photos (to import receipts), Motion & Fitness (to auto-detect business drives), Location (to measure drive distance), and Notifications (local quarterly reminders). Each is optional and used only for the stated feature. None of this data leaves your device.

Children

Gig is intended for working adults filing US self-employment taxes and is not directed at children.
