Frequently asked questions

Where does my data live?

On the iPhone you installed Pillbox on, in an encrypted SQLite database. We do not operate a server, so there is no second copy anywhere.

Does the camera upload my prescription?

No. The image is passed to Apple's Vision framework on-device, processed locally, and discarded unless you save the medication. We never see it.

What if a notification didn't fire?

Notifications depend on iOS settings, Focus modes, and device state. Open Settings → Notifications → Pillbox, make sure "Allow Notifications" and "Time Sensitive" are on. If you use a Focus, add Pillbox to its allowed list. Reconcile pending notifications from Pillbox → Settings → Reminders.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Pillbox → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. You will not be charged again.

Restore Purchases?

Open Pillbox → Settings → Restore purchases. This re-syncs your purchase from your Apple ID. It is also available on any paywall screen.

I scanned a bottle and Pillbox got something wrong.

OCR is a convenience, not a guarantee. Every save flow asks you to confirm that the fields match the bottle in your hand. Edit anything that's wrong before saving. We never silently auto-fill a save.

Are drug interaction warnings reliable?

Warnings come from a bundled top-200 severe-interaction edge table derived from US-government public-domain data (DailyMed). It is not exhaustive. Always consult your pharmacist or prescriber.

When is family sharing coming?

Version 1.1. It will use Apple's end-to-end encrypted CloudKit Share. We will still operate no server.

What about Apple Watch?

Watch app lands in version 1.1.

How do I delete everything?

Uninstall Pillbox from your iPhone. That removes the entire local database.

Is this a medical device?

No. Pillbox does not diagnose, treat, cure, predict, or guarantee anything. Use your hospital's preferred system for life-critical medications.
