How does the photo analysis work?
You snap a meal. The app identifies the foods and estimates portions. By default the analysis runs on device. Pro users can opt into higher-accuracy server analysis for a single photo at a time. Either way, the result is shown on screen and you can edit it before saving.
Are the calorie estimates accurate?
They are approximations based on visual recognition + a portion model. Use them as a guide, not a precise nutrition label. You can always edit the result before saving the meal, including the portion sliders.
Does Plate work offline?
Yes for everything except optional Pro server analysis and Apple Health sync. The on-device flow (camera capture, manual entry, voice add, the macro coach) all run without internet.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your device, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Plate Pro → Cancel. Plate cannot cancel your subscription for you because Apple manages billing.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and find the Plate purchase to request a refund. Apple's refund policy applies.
How do I delete my data?
In the app: Settings → Delete all data. This removes meals, photos, and water logs from this device. To remove data Plate wrote to Apple Health, open the Apple Health app and delete the entries from there.
Restore purchases
If you bought Plate Pro previously and the entitlement isn't active on a new install, tap Settings → Restore purchases in the app while signed into the same Apple ID.
Watch / Widget / Live Activity not working?
Make sure the iPhone app is open at least once after install so that the App Group has data to share. The watch and widget read from the iPhone's shared snapshot.
Reporting a bug
The most useful bug report includes:
- iOS version + device (e.g. "iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 17.4")
- What you did
- What happened vs what you expected
- A screenshot if you have one
