Terms of Use
By downloading or using Plate ("the app"), you agree to these terms and to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA), which governs the licensing of the app itself. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The service
Plate is an iOS app for personal calorie and meal tracking. The app provides automated nutritional estimates from photos and voice input. These estimates are approximations, not a substitute for a registered dietitian or medical advice.
Not medical advice
Plate is informational and is not a medical device. Do not use Plate to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are managing weight under medical supervision, consult a qualified healthcare professional before relying on the app's estimates.
Subscriptions and pricing
Plate Pro is sold via Apple's App Store. Three tiers, all unlocking the same features:
- Plate Pro Monthly — $9.99 USD per month, with a 3-day free trial.
- Plate Pro Yearly — $59.00 USD per year (≈ $4.92/mo), with a 7-day free trial.
- Plate Pro Lifetime — $99.00 USD one-time, never expires.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions auto-renew at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Free trials. If a free trial is offered, it converts into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled before that date. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited if you instead purchase Lifetime.
- Cancellation. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions, or from the App Store on a Mac.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's refund policy. Plate cannot directly issue App Store refunds.
- Lifetime. Lifetime is a one-time, non-recurring purchase that grants access to current Pro features for as long as the app is supported. We will keep the Pro entitlement honored on the same Apple ID for the foreseeable lifetime of the app.
Acceptable use
- You agree not to attempt to bypass paywalls, reverse-engineer the app to defeat licensing, or sell access to the app's features.
- You agree not to use the app's services for spam, scraping, or any abusive workload that would degrade the service for others.
- You agree not to use the app in violation of applicable laws or in any way that infringes on the rights of others.
Your content
Photos, voice recordings, and meal logs created in the app are yours. Plate does not claim ownership of them. You retain all rights to your content. Plate processes everything on this device — your content is not uploaded to Plate's servers and is not sent to any third-party AI service.
Intellectual property
The Plate name, logo, design, and source code are © Plate. You may not reproduce or redistribute the app or its assets without written permission.
Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Plate does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that nutritional estimates will be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Plate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of the app.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the app after the terms are updated indicates your acceptance of the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by applicable consumer-protection law in the jurisdiction in which you reside.
