SHIELD — Privacy Policy

Short version

SHIELD does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. All processing happens on your iPhone. We do not have a server to send data to.

1. Data we collect from you: none

We do not collect, sell, share, or transmit personal data of any kind, including identifiers, contact info, photos, screenshots, biometric data, location, contacts, browsing history, usage data, diagnostics, or device identifiers.

2. How SHIELD processes screenshots

When you choose a screenshot or share an image to SHIELD, the image is loaded into memory on your device only. SHIELD runs Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect faces, recognised text, and barcodes. The resulting bounding boxes and recognised text fragments exist only in your iPhone's RAM. The original image never leaves your device. Detected text fragments are wiped from memory when SHIELD spends more than 30 seconds in the background.

3. What is stored on the device

• App preferences (e.g. selected theme, completed-onboarding flag) — in standard iOS UserDefaults.
• If you subscribe, Apple sends StoreKit transaction receipts to the App Store; SHIELD reads only the active product IDs locally to unlock features.
• Pro+ "scan history" is a local SwiftData store containing 256-px thumbnails plus the type and count of detections. Original images are never written to disk.
• Pro+ "face whitelist" stores opaque Apple-provided feature print vectors for faces you explicitly tag.

4. Network access

The app makes no network requests except those mediated by Apple StoreKit (subscription verification) and the standard iOS App Store. There are no analytics, telemetry, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs in the binary. You can verify this with the command otool -L.

5. Permissions we request

• Photo Library (read): required to load the screenshot you choose.
• Photo Library (add): required if you tap "Save to Photos" on a masked image.
• Camera: requested only if you opt to re-photograph a screen you cannot screenshot directly.

6. Children

SHIELD is rated 4+. SHIELD does not knowingly collect any data, and certainly not from children.

7. GDPR / CCPA / PIPL

Because SHIELD does not collect personal data, there is nothing to access, port, correct, or delete. You can uninstall the app to remove all local state. If you have any privacy question, write to augistrench@gmail.com.
