Tide Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-05-13.

The short version

Tide does not have a server. The app runs entirely on your device. We do not collect, log, or upload anything about you. There is no account.

What we collect from your device

Nothing leaves your device. The following data is read only on-device:

• Location (when in use) — used to suggest nearby NOAA tide stations and to compute accurate sun, moon, and solunar times for your spot. Coordinates are never transmitted off the device.
• Saved spots (station IDs, your nicknames) — stored locally in SwiftData. If you enable Pro+ iCloud sync, copies are stored in your private CloudKit database, end-to-end encrypted by Apple. We have no access.
• Notification preferences — stored locally and used to schedule local notifications.

WeatherKit

Pro+ wind/swell overlay calls Apple's WeatherKit service. Apple's privacy policy applies to that request. We receive nothing.

Third-party trackers / SDKs

None. We don't ship any SDK that talks to a server.

Children

The app is rated 4+ and does not collect data from any user.

Your rights

Delete the app to remove every byte of local data. If you used Pro+ iCloud sync, you can also delete the records via Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Tide.
