Terms of Use (EULA)
Last updated: 12 May 2026 · effective immediately.
This End-User Licence Agreement is between you and Atrium ("we", "us"). By installing or using Decibel, you agree to these terms.
1. Licence
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Decibel on iOS and watchOS devices that you own or control, for personal and professional use, subject to the Apple App Store EULA.
2. Subscriptions
Decibel is free to download. Some features require a Pro or Pro+ subscription, billed monthly or annually through Apple.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iOS device.
- Refunds are handled by Apple. Request them at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Free trials, where offered, convert automatically to paid subscriptions at the end of the trial period unless cancelled. One free trial is available per Apple ID.
3. Calibration disclaimer
Decibel uses a per-iPhone-model offset table to bring readings within ±2 dB of a reference SLM across the 60–100 dB range. iPhone and Apple Watch microphones are not Class 1 or Class 2 certified hardware. Readings are intended for personal awareness, hearing-protection screening, and informal documentation. They are not suitable as legal regulatory evidence (e.g. an OSHA citation). For legal compliance, use a certified Class 2 or Class 1 sound level meter calibrated by an accredited lab.
4. No medical claims
Decibel does not diagnose, treat, or claim to prevent hearing loss or any medical condition. Educational content in the app is derived from public NIOSH and OSHA materials. If you have concerns about your hearing, consult a licensed audiologist.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, subscription bypass paths, or proprietary signal-processing parameters from the app. You agree not to use Decibel to harass, surveil, or record any third party without their knowledge.
6. Liability
Decibel is provided "as is" without warranty. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim all liability for damages arising from use of the app, including indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
7. Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the publisher's jurisdiction, except where local consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
