Frequently asked

How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancellation is handled by Apple. Open iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, tap Defuse, then Cancel. Cancelling stops auto-renewal; you keep Pro access through the end of the paid period.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are processed by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the Defuse charge, and submit a request. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly. If Apple declines and you believe the decline is in error, write to us and we will support your appeal.
Restore Purchases isn't finding my Pro subscription.
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase. In Defuse, open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. If the issue persists, email us with your purchase date and we'll help reconcile with Apple.
I deleted the app and lost my saved scripts.
Defuse stores everything on-device by design. Deleting the app deletes the data — there is no cloud copy. We recommend using the share as image button to keep PNG snapshots of any script you want to preserve.
The defuse session won't start / nothing happens after I tap Begin.
Try: force-quit Defuse (swipe up from the App Switcher), reopen, and try again. If still stuck, restart the device. If the bug persists, email us with the iOS version and a screenshot.
Why is the daily reminder not firing?
Notifications must be allowed for Defuse in iOS Settings → Notifications → Defuse. If you previously denied permission, the toggle inside the app may be off; turn it back on after enabling system permission.
Can I sync between iPhone and iPad?
Not yet. We chose local-only storage for v1 to keep privacy simple. If multi-device sync becomes a frequent request we will add an opt-in, end-to-end encrypted option in a later version.
Why is "Pro" needed for the weekly pattern and 12 steps?
Defuse is a one-person studio with running costs (App Store fees, time). The free tier is intentionally usable on its own — daily check-in plus a 7-step session per day; Pro extends sessions, unlocks all four voices, and adds the pattern report. There are no ads either way.
Is the content medically reviewed?
The technique (decatastrophizing) is a textbook CBT intervention. The implementation, voice styles, and humour are creative choices, not clinical care. The app shows hotline links throughout and includes a reminder at the bottom of every primary screen.
Accessibility is broken on my device.
Defuse supports VoiceOver and dynamic type. If a control is unlabelled or unreachable, please email a description; accessibility bugs jump the queue.
