Plain English summary. Defuse is an entertainment-grade mental wellness app, not medical care. Subscriptions auto-renew through Apple. We do not collect your data. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the app.
By installing or using the Defuse iOS application ("Defuse" or the "App") you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not accept them, please remove Defuse from your device. The App is published by Zhang Jiahao ("we", "us").
Defuse implements decatastrophizing, a recognised cognitive-behavioural-therapy technique, but the App is not a clinician, a diagnosis, a substitute for treatment, or a crisis service. If you are in crisis, contact a local helpline. The App displays disclaimers and hotline numbers throughout for this reason.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App, and the age of legal capacity in your jurisdiction to purchase a subscription.
We grant you a personal, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to install and use Defuse on iOS devices you own or control, subject to Apple's Standard EULA for Licensed Application End Users, which is incorporated by reference and prevails over these Terms in any conflict.
Prices are displayed in your local currency by Apple at the moment of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
The Pro tier unlocks: 12-step scripts, all four voice styles, the weekly pattern report, and the share-as-image card. Free users receive 7-step scripts, one defuse session per day, and the daily check-in.
Refund requests for subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled by Apple. You can submit a request at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not have visibility into payment events and cannot directly refund you.
You agree not to: reverse-engineer the App outside what is permitted by Apple's EULA; resell or sublicense it; submit content that violates third-party rights; or use the App to harm yourself or others. Defuse contains deadpan dark humour; if you find this format unhelpful, the App will not improve with continued use, and you should stop.
The Defuse name, logo, copy, voice-style presets, scene templates, and code are owned by Zhang Jiahao and protected by copyright. The voice styles ("Plain", "Storybook", "Midwestern Noir", "Cold Open") are original stylistic presets and do not represent or imply endorsement by, partnership with, or affiliation with any real-world filmmaker, broadcaster, or entertainer.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free or that any specific outcome (relief from anxiety, behavioural change, etc.) will be achieved.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for all claims arising from your use of the App is limited to the amount you paid us through Apple in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
You may stop using Defuse at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or to comply with law. Sections that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law) survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia, save for any non-waivable consumer rights you have under your local law.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date and surfaced in-app where appropriate. Continued use after a change means you accept the new Terms.
