Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-03
Roommate is designed to leak as little of you as possible. The defaults aren't “privacy-respecting” — there is nothing to disrespect.
What we collect
Nothing personal. No account, no email, no phone number, no advertising ID, no analytics, no crash reports.
The only things stored anywhere are stored on your device only:
- Your roommate selection (one of 5 personas).
- Your apartment material (wood / brick / carpet / tile).
- Your knock cooldown, schedule drift preference, sleep-fade duration.
- The chat messages you've exchanged (kept locally; never sent off-device, capped at the most recent 50).
- The timestamp of your last “knock the wall” tap.
These are kept in UserDefaults and the local sandbox. Resetting the app wipes them.
What we don't do
- We don't track you. There is no third-party analytics SDK.
- We don't transmit your chats. Replies are generated on device by an algorithmic engine. No LLM, no servers, no API.
- We don't sell, share, or rent any data — we don't have any to sell.
- We don't show ads.
- We don't access your microphone, camera, contacts, location, photo library, HealthKit, or motion data.
Subscriptions
Subscription purchases are processed by Apple via StoreKit. Apple's privacy practices apply to that transaction; we receive only a flag indicating whether you have an active entitlement.
Children
The app is rated 4+. We don't knowingly collect anything from anyone, including children.
Changes
We may update this policy; significant changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app means you accept the latest version.
