Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-05-03

By installing or using Roommate (“the app”), you agree to these terms.

What the app is

Roommate plays algorithmically scheduled ambient sounds that simulate someone in the next room. The “chat” feature replies with text composed on your device by a template-based engine — there is no AI model, no server, and no human on the other side. The app is intended for ambient companionship and focus, not for emergencies, therapy, or medical use.

License

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control.

Subscriptions

Roommate Pro and Roommate Pro+ are auto-renewing subscriptions billed through your Apple ID. The exact price, billing period, and currency are shown on the purchase screen at the time of purchase.

A one-time Lifetime purchase grants the Pro tier permanently on your Apple ID's family-shared devices, subject to Apple's policies.

No warranty

The app is provided “as-is.” We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Don't rely on it for safety, sleep medical needs, or anything that matters more than ambient sound.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the last 12 months.

Changes

We may update these terms; significant changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the app is distributed unless local consumer-protection law says otherwise.
