Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 May 2026

By installing or using Solo Lock you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't install the app.

1. What Solo Lock is

Solo Lock is a single-user iOS app that lets you set a focus session, choose how the key is held during that session ("lockmaster"), and shield selected apps via Apple's Family Controls API for the duration of the session.

2. What Solo Lock is not

Solo Lock is not medical, psychological, or addiction-treatment advice. It is a behavioral tool. If you are struggling with a serious behavioral health issue, please consult a qualified professional.

3. Subscriptions

Pro Monthly ($4.99/month), Pro Yearly ($24.99/year), and Lifetime ($59 one-time) are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel at any time at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

4. Charity Lock fees

If you choose Charity Lock and break a session early, you authorize a charge between $1 and $25 against your Apple ID. This charge is payable to the 501(c)(3) charity you selected. Solo Lock keeps $0 of the charge. Charges are non-refundable once the lock is broken, because the donation is made within 30 days of the broken session.

If, despite our reasonable efforts, the selected charity cannot accept the donation (for example, it loses 501(c)(3) status), the donation will be redirected to a default partner charity of comparable mission, with notice in the History view.

5. App blocking

App shielding is performed by Apple's Family Controls / ManagedSettings APIs at the OS level. Solo Lock activates the shield; iOS enforces it. We do not guarantee that every method of bypassing iOS shielding is prevented (for example, deleting and reinstalling apps via the App Store). The lock is a commitment device, not an inescapable cell.

6. Emergency unlock

Each lockmaster has its own emergency-unlock policy. The AI Judge does not unlock early. The Random Delay requires a 15-minute wait plus a 50-word reason. The Charity Lock requires confirming the donation. By proceeding through any emergency unlock flow, you accept its consequences.

7. AI Judge content

The AI Judge produces text using a deterministic combinatorial algorithm running entirely on your device. Its messages are not personalized advice and should not be relied on as such. They are intended as friction against the immediate impulse to unlock — nothing more.

8. Limitation of liability

Solo Lock is provided as-is. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and limit our aggregate liability to the amount you have paid for the app in the past twelve months.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a material change constitutes acceptance.
