This is the authoritative version of Stoic's Privacy Policy. The same text is also shipped inside the app, accessible from Settings → About → Privacy policy.
Nothing leaves your device by default. Every journal entry, every sealed eulogy, every bookmarked quote, your birth year, your reminder times, and your name (if entered) are stored only on your device using Apple's SwiftData and Keychain frameworks. We do not run analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or marketing SDKs. We do not have a server.
If you turn on iCloud sync inside Settings → Your Data, your entries are encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple and stored in your private CloudKit container. We never receive a copy. Apple's iCloud privacy disclosures apply.
Weekly eulogies are encrypted with a per-device AES-GCM key generated by Apple's CryptoKit and stored in the Keychain (kSecAttrAccessibleAfterFirstUnlockThisDeviceOnly). The key never leaves your device, never enters iCloud, and is unrecoverable if you delete the app.
When you tap the microphone in the journal, we use Apple's on-device Speech framework to transcribe your voice. Audio and transcripts never leave your device. We never request the microphone for any other purpose.
Stoic Pro purchases are handled by Apple via StoreKit 2. We receive only what Apple sends — a verified receipt that tells us whether your subscription is active. We do not see your name, email, or payment details.
Stoic is rated 4+ but is designed for adult journaling. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13.
If we ever change this policy, we will update the effective date above and surface the change inside the app on next launch.
