Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 1, 2026
1. Who we are
"Pool" (the "App") is published by the developer ("we", "us"). Contact: jasperabundant@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
Personal data: none. Pool does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use it.
Data stored on your device only:
- Session history (shape, duration, start/end time, completed/aborted).
- Your selected shape and last duration.
- Companion chat history, if you choose to use Companion.
- App preferences such as whether onboarding has been completed.
This data is stored using Apple's standard on-device storage (UserDefaults). It is not transmitted to us or to any third party. If iCloud Backup is enabled on your device, this data may be included in your encrypted device backup, controlled entirely by Apple and you.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not collect your IP address, device identifiers, IDFA, or advertising identifiers.
- We do not use third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Google Analytics).
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not collect crash logs other than the standard, anonymous reports that Apple may collect on your behalf if you have opted in via iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
4. How Companion works
Pool's Companion feature is a chat experience that runs entirely on your device. Replies are generated by a local algorithm built into the app — not by an AI service or a remote server. Nothing you type in Companion ever leaves your device.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
In-app purchases (Pool Pro monthly, yearly, lifetime; Pool Kids lifetime) are processed by Apple via the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple shares with us only the receipt-level information required to verify your entitlement on your device.
Manage or cancel subscriptions at any time from the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac (Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions). For details, see Apple's App Store terms.
6. Children's privacy
Pool is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The Pool Kids in-app purchase tier exists so that classrooms and parents can use the App without seeing upgrade prompts; it does not change the data Pool collects (which remains: none).
7. Permissions Pool may ask for
Pool runs without requiring any sensitive permissions. The App may use the following standard iOS capabilities:
- Live Activities: to show the draining shape on your Lock Screen during a session. You can disable Live Activities for Pool at any time in iOS Settings.
- Haptics: brief vibrations at session start and end.
8. Data retention and deletion
All Pool data is stored on your device. To delete it: open Pool's Companion screen and tap the trash icon to clear chat history; clear session history from the History screen; or simply delete the App from your device, which removes all stored data.
9. International users
Because Pool stores no personal data on any server, international data transfer regulations (such as the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR, the California CCPA) generally do not apply. If you have rights to access, correct, or delete your data under applicable law, you can exercise them yourself by using your device, since the data lives only there. For questions, email jasperabundant@gmail.com.
10. Apple's Privacy Manifest
Pool ships with an
Apple
Privacy Manifest that declares: tracking is off, no tracking domains,
no collected data types, and one approved API access reason
(CA92.1 — UserDefaults for app preferences within the same
app). This file is bundled with every Pool release.
11. Changes to this policy
If we ever change this policy, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Material changes will also be reflected in the App's "About" screen. We will not retroactively expand data collection.
12. Contact
Questions or requests: jasperabundant@gmail.com.
Pool is an indie iOS app for visual time perception. This privacy policy is written in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, please ask.
