Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Booth is built by Zhang Jiahao as a purely native iOS application. There is no backend, no account system, and no place for us to receive your data. This policy explains, plainly, what the app touches on your iPhone and what it deliberately never does.
Data Not Collected
We do not collect personal data. Specifically:
- No analytics. Booth contains no usage analytics or telemetry.
- No tracking. App Tracking Transparency (ATT) is never requested, because Booth does not track you across apps or websites.
- No advertising. There are no ads and no advertising identifiers.
- No account. You do not create an account or provide an email, name, or password to use Booth.
- No third-party SDKs. Booth ships without third-party tracking, attribution, or data-broker SDKs.
Device Permissions
Booth requests only the permissions it needs to function, and uses each strictly on your device:
- Photos. Used to import the photos you choose to edit and to save your finished exports back to your library. Booth accesses only what you select.
- Camera. Used to capture product photos directly inside the app.
- Motion & orientation. Used to power the on-screen level guide so you can shoot square, straight shots. Motion data is not stored or transmitted.
You can grant or revoke any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app. Denying a permission only limits the related feature.
On-Device Processing
All editing — presets, batch export, sRGB color management, and background replacement using Apple Vision and Core Image — runs locally on your iPhone. Your images are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
iCloud (Booth Plus)
If you subscribe to Booth Plus and enable sync, Booth uses your own private CloudKit container within your personal Apple account. This data stays end-to-end inside your Apple iCloud account; we never see it, cannot access it, and do not operate any server that touches it. iCloud usage is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy.
AI Disclosure Metadata
When you use AI background replacement, Booth embeds transparency metadata directly in the exported image's EXIF fields (for example, Software = Booth 1.0 and AIBackgroundReplaced = true). This is written into the file you export and is intended to help you meet AI-disclosure obligations such as the EU AI Act (Article 50) and California AB 942. You may also enable an optional visible “Edited with Booth” badge. The basic white background option uses no AI and is not flagged as AI-edited.
Children's Privacy
Booth is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. Because the app does not collect any personal data from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised version at this address.
